Parent Aide Services

Parent Aide

Parent Aide services are provided to families with an open Family Centered Services and/or Family Centered Out of Home Care (FCOOHC) case with Missouri Children's Division.  We currently provide Parent Aide services Dunklin and Stoddard counties.  The Parent Aide assists the parent(s) with the development of parenting and home management skills through both teaching and modeling, with a goal of reaching an acceptable level of family functioning and maintenance of the physical environment.

Parent Education

Parent Education is offered in a small group setting using a family centered, trauma informed approach.  Our Family Outreach Team utilizes Nurturing Parenting curriculum, an evidence-based and nationally validated family systems model that focuses on bonding and attachment, emotional regulation, self-awareness, empathy, age appropriate expectations, and discipline alternatives.  The classes are delivered in a 16-week course of weekly sessions where parents learn skills to establish a nurturing way of parenting.

Transportation

Transportation services are provided in direct alignment with the treatment plan goals as defined by Missouri Children's Division.  This includes transporting children and parents to family visits or to meet with community resources, transporting to medical appointments, or other transportation as needed.

Service Delivery Coordination

Service delivery coordination is assistance provided with case management activities, which may include:

  • Supervising family visits;

  • Accessing resources for placement stability;

  • Behavioral management;

  • Locating child care services;

  • Applying for public assistance;

  • Locating medical or mental health services; and or

Capacity Building Partnership

ChildCare Aware

As a Capacity Building Partner with ChildCare Aware of Missouri, the Caring Council joins in the mission to raise the quality of early child care educational experiences in Missouri by improving child care services - through training, quality standards, coaching, and infrastructure support.  Through this partnership, we:

  • Provide technical assistance to existing child care providers for improvement of business practices; identify needed supplies, services, or other resources to support retention of existing child care business;

  • Identify, update, and help build awareness of how to start a new child care program;

  • Identify and promote family resources, family education, and engagement opportunities;

  • Provide outreach to business and civic leaders to encourage their assistance in increasing child care capacity for working families.

The Caring Council hosts informational meetings for potential providers who are interested in starting a family child care business.  For more information about the next meeting, contact us.

Parent Cafés

Parent Cafe

Using the Be Strong Families model, Parent Cafés are physically and emotionally safe spaces where parents and caregivers talk about the challenges and victories of raising a family.  In 2007, the Parent Café process was developed by parent leaders from Strengthening Families Illinois to design a parent-to-parent way to bring the Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors to families. The Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors are:

  • Resilience: Parent Resilience

  • Relationships: Positive Social Connections

  • Support: Concrete Support in Times of Need

  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development

  • Communication: Social and Emotional Competence

Contact us to find out about the next series of Parent Cafés hosted by the Caring Council.  You can learn more about Be Strong Families and the Parent Café model by visiting their website here.
